Shri Dwarikadhish Temple

ABOUT TRUST AND TEMPLE

On June 21, 2006, the foundation stone was laid for the Shri Dwarkadhish Avam Bagheshwar Mahadev Temple with the verse:

“यदा यदा हि धर्मस्य ग्लानिर्भवति भारत।
अभ्युत्थानमधर्मस्य तदात्मानं सृजाम्यहम्।।
परित्राणाय साधूनां विनाशाय च दुष्कृताम्।
धर्मसंस्थापनार्थाय सम्भवामि युगे युगे।।”

This verse signifies the eternal cycle of the rise and fall of righteousness and the divine manifestation to restore it, emphasizing the trust’s commitment to upholding dharma for the well-being of society.

The trust responsible for this initiative is named Shri Dwarka Maharaj Smriti Nyas. The purpose behind establishing this trust is to contribute to social welfare and spread love through devotion to Lord KrishnaShri Jagadish Prakash Gupta oversees the operations of this trust. Our managing trustee Shri. Kunjan Gupta diligently attends to every requirement of the temple-related tasks, demonstrating exceptional competence. Additionally, we are fortunate to have dedicated trustee members, Smt. Shikha Gupta and Shri Bhuvan Gupta, who actively contribute to the success and well-being of the temple.

In Raipur, Chhattisgarh, there is a unique temple dedicated to Dwarkadhish, making it the fourth of its kind in the world. This is the sole worship place for Dwarkadhish in Chhattisgarh, where every alternate year, we organize a program featuring Yajna along with the narration of Ramayana or Bhagavad Gita. The narrative and Yajna extend for a period of 10 days, concluding with a grand Yajna and feast, including the donation of cows on the final days of the worship.

Shri Krishna has defined the characteristics of his favourite devotee in 12th chapter of Shri Bhagwat Gita And one such personality who qualifies to be an Ideal Bhakta is a perfect example of Karma Yogi as well. The worldly name given to him was Jagdish Prasad Gupta in the year 1949 by his biological mother, but now he is known as “Acharya Jagdish”. Acharya ji belongs to the family of renowned landlord Shri Bakhtawar Mal Ramnath and Sons, Rajnangaon (Chhattisgarh). Acharya ji has taken every work what ever been given to him as the task of Shri Krishna and completed it with full devotion, patience and perseverance be it related to profession, personal or spreading the words for Almighty. He has put his best foot forward in completing his duties and always kept his words of fulfilling the commitments made to any individual. One such commitment was made by him to his GURUDEV “Shri Dwarika Maharaj ji, who was the renowned spiritual head of his family and has guided many great souls in ups and downs of life.

He who hates no creature, who is friendly and compassionate to all, who is free from attachment and egoism, balanced in pleasure and pain, and forgiving 12.13

Ever content, steady in meditation, self-controlled, possessed of firm conviction, with mind and intellect dedicated to Me, he, My devotee, is dear to me 12.14

Yagya is also pronounced as Yadnya or Yajna. The oldest manuscript is known to humankind- Vedas, which describes this ritual 1184 times. Vedas say that before everything, there was nothing. And then, the Divine built the Yagya and sacrificed Themselves, and the universe was created. The universe was created from the Yagya itself. Ancient texts of Satapatha Brahmana say, ‘Yajyo Vai Shreshtha Tamam Karma,’ which means Yagya Karma is the most extraordinary Karma.

The word ‘yajna’ is very significant throughout the Bhagavad-gita. Sacrifice, no doubt, means giving something, but it does not mean losing something.

  • In giving, we do not lose.
  • Give and it shall be given back a hundred-fold.
  • It should be realized that whatever money, material, labor, and time is invested in a Yagya, it never goes in vain.
  • In a way, it gets deposited in the bank of the deities and gets back with adequate interest at an appropriate time.

Yajna – Total control of own-self
Apart from community, Yagna is also an activity of the soul, for a person who gains the fruits of his karmas (actions) through his or her sacrifices. So, one kind of yajna or sacrifice would imply self-control, restraining the movement of all the senses, the mind, and the intellect. Each soul has an inner fire, which is a reflection of cosmic fire. Tending to our inner fire requires consciousness, concentration, perseverance, and a sense of purpose. When we neglect our inner fire, our passions and purpose go unruly. But when tended carefully, fire provides a focus for our purpose, destroys our inner impurities, and increases our intelligence. In general, a Havan is conducted to achieve both spiritual and material success.
